We've had good success with Intersolv/Q+E drivers. We purchased  them last year because Oracle's ODBC was not stable at the  time. The Intersolv/Q+E products have worked great. They  install in a snap and we've not had any hassles with them  whatsoever. They also have multiple-licence packs that  are a bit cheaper if all you need to do is access Oracle.

We use ODBC with Microsoft Office (Excel mostly), Lotus 123  and some manufacturing process control software. I've also  had no troubles with my own Visual Basic programs.

I have not tested the latest release of Oracle's ODBC.  If I had to make the choice now and given it is stable,  I would most likely download the Oracle ODBC for free  and worry about support later on.
