With SQL*Net V2.??? you can encryt the username/password between the client and server. This comes standard with Oracle 7

However, if you want to encryt all datagrams between the client and server, you wil need the Secure Network option that sits on top of SQL*Net V2 from Oracle. From what I hear, there is negligible overheads with the additional processing.
