ASCII to EBCDIC Sort

Looking for the cabability to apply EBCDIC order and aggregate functions such as MIN and MAX to ASCII character strings. Please let me hear that it's possible and that it's fairly painless using ORACLE 7.0.16.4.1 SERVER on several UNIX platforms.
