CBC EHQ (the Engineering Headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, at 7925 Cote Saint Luc Road, Montreal, Quebec) is looking for the names of potential program suppliers who would be interested in bidding for a future contract to write smart client/smart server program(s) to run in an Oracle environment on a Unix-based building area network at CBC EHQ.

Assuming that upper management approves a budget, CBC EHQ intends to go out for bids within a few weeks for project quotations.

The purpose of the project will be to provide a computerised project reporting system for use by the several engineering departments within CBC EHQ. The system will track the progress of the engineering projects that CBC EHQ undertakes to construct or upgrade CBC production and transmission facilities across Canada.

At CBC EHQ, engineers and support staff use a mix of IBM/MS PCcompatible  and Macintosh computers, connected via Ethernet to an array of Sun servers. Some of the Apple computers use Appletalk wiring that in turn accesses the Ethernet via Shiva gateways.

The network operating system employed on all PC's at EHQ is PC-NFS. Our Ethernet supports TCP/IP, Appletalk Phase II and IPX/SPX protocols.
