Migrating to Oracle/SUN

HI netlanders,

I am new to this newsgroup but not the comp.databases.* tree. If the following is in the FAQ please tell me, and I will come back when I have more specific Q's.

With that said, I need netland advice and comments about the following:

1. In the next couple months I have to migrate my current DB to Oracle, What tips & tricks can you pass along to make my migration easier. Remember, I have never dealt with Oracle before, but I have 5yrs worth of solid SQL experiance.
2. Like it says in the header, the Oracle software will be going onto a SUN 630MP running either Solaris 1.1 or 2.3 ( maybe 2.4 ). Which is a better OS platform for Oracle?
3. Can Oracle live happily along with another DB on the same machine?

I think that is all for now, but I would like to hear your additional comments if you think I am missing something.
