Use of TWO_TASK environment variable

We are currently using a value in the TWO_TASK environment variable of 'P:' to enable the 'Pause'-ing of data as it is displayed to the screen. Seems to work fine.
Now, as we attempt to install an auto-patch to our Financials application, the patch routine has asked if our database name is 'P:', presumably drawing from TWO_TASK. Anybody have any insight into the values of TWO_TASK and their uses?
