I have never moved an entire database from VMS to Solaris, but we have moved a number of applications and their data. I would expect that a full export of the database would work well. When you FTP the file over to the sun, make sure that you set your mode to binary. Make sure that you create all the tablespaces before you attempt to do the full import. Unix won't like the VMS file specifications currently in dba_data_files.
