Connecting AutoCAD with Oracle database

I want to connect Autodesk's AutoCAD product running under Windows to an Oracle database.
- Can I use the Oracle ODBC driver or do I need a third party product?
- Can I use either the stand-alone or the client-server version of Oracle?
I would like to hear from everyone who has successfully achieved to this link.
