Trouble using DDE to conect to a remote Host

  Hi,

     I am having problems loading data from an Oracle7 db into an  Excel worksheet using DDE manager V1.1 accessing a remote vax  server.

     All h/w, and s/w requirements have been met. On executing the Excel   formula DDE is opened, but fails to connect to the remote node giving a   error message ora-03112 "Host string Syntax error"

     Syntax is not the problem. Because the error falls within a certain   range, I am executing netinit7.exe at startup. It makes no difference.   I tried using Word with no joy. I have tried connecting to an Oracle   6 db with no sucess.
