   My favorite is when people attempt to back up a "live" database    by backing up the data files and control files. WHen they have    problems, they try to restore which inevitably results in different    control files being applied to different data files which = a mess.

   Again, Oracle is super stable and reliable IF you take your time    and use some common sense.
