Database replicator for Oracle???

Ingres has recently released a software product called Replicator that facilitates the copying of data from a source database to one or more target databases.
Does Oracle have a similar utility??? Our project requires that a backup database server at all times be ready to take over for the main server -- i.e., the data on the main server must be frequently mirrored to the backup server, so that it is as up-to-date as possible.
