Signal handling in Forms 3.0 under unix

We are trying to handle user-defined unix signals (i.e. SIG30 & SIG31) in Forms 3.0 with Oracle 6.0.36.7.1 under SunOS 4.1.3, but we find that the parent shell becomes locked. If anyone out there could tell us how to get around this we'd be eternally grateful...!
