Replacing SQL*Menu Security with Database Roles

Does anybody have any experience with replacing SQL*Menu roles with database roles. I'm considering replacing the Menu_B_User table with a view which has the same structure, but gets its data from the database roles (Version 7.0)information in the data dictionary. This way, I only have to manage roles in one place. Now, besides the fact that this is "unsupported", does anybody know of any potential problems this might cause?
Problems, pitfalls, experiences and suggestions are appreciated!
