Greetings,

We are running Oracle 6.0.33 and 6.0.36 on SUN 4 OS 4.1.x.

A PRO*C application runs just fine for days or weeks, then suddenly cannot connect to the database. It gets the following error:

     07268, 00000, "spgun: getpwuid error."
// *Cause: Getpwuid library routine returned an error.
// *Action: Possible operating system error.

When we restart the application, all is fine.

Oracle tech support said this problem usually occurs after the password file has somehow been corrupted. But it just happened again on a system that I was able to immediately login to and verify that the password file is fine.

Has anybody else encountered this error? Any ideas?

thanks,

 -jean
