Can't get MANDATORY attribute to work on SQL*Forms 2.3

Hi,

        Simple problem really. How do I get the Mandatory settign to work on SQL*Forms 2.3 ???

        I can set it in the Specify Attributes window, and it works. But only for records I enter new. For records queried from the database, the Mandatory setting does not apply until after I have changed the field's value. So it is then possible for a user to query a record in from the database and immediatley commit it back again without the Mandatory check being applied. Why is this ? Where in the ORACLE RDBMS Documentation is such behaviour described ?

        Most importantly what can I do about it ?
