CDE version control strategy

Does anyone know of any statements from Oracle concerning a version control strategy for CDE? Are third party products going to be facilitated i.e., with source code equivalents such as FMT and MMT files, and others for Reports etc. Or are these files just temporary measures to get around the Global Replace problem (as some sources suggest)?
Any help in this regard would be appreciated. Please reply to me directly.
