Access, given its current state of development, is quite slow when accessing ORACLE.

VB is VERY appropriate for any kind of remote ORACLE access from PC's. We are developing several applications using VB on a PC accessing ORACLE on an HP 9000/867. Works really well and requires NO modifications or special tables in ORACLE. PowerBuilder REQUIRES special tables be installed in ORACLE before it will run -- this can be a BIG problem IF you don't have full DBA control over ORACLE. PowerBuilder is also big and quite expensive. Your mileage may vary, however, depending on your local needs.

BTW, we use Pioneer Software's Q+E Database Library instead of the ODBC drivers - great API and better performance.

Good luck!
