I am interested in writing a portable database application (WINDOWS/MAC) in C++. I have looked at products on the market and realize there are 2 levels of functionality I can obtain from most packages:
- Data file handlers - these libraries allow efficient storage of indexed data.
- Database Management - these libraries allow full search capabilities.
I am interested in a complete abstraction and have heard about a library called DB.h++ from Rouge Wave. I just found out that it is actually CommonBase from (ImageSoft/Glockenspeil-CA).
Has anyone used DB.h++/CommonBase?
How flexable is it? Can I drop down to the database if I need too?
Is it efficient (fast)?
