The Office of Government Information, part of the Division of
Planning and Information, has the following position open. I would
Network/Database Support Consultant:
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs, Office of Government Information, has a vacancy for a position in network management and support. An additional responsibility is database administration.
The position is non-merit (i.e., not "civil service") and will pay in the mid-$30s, plus benefits.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences (Graduate degree would be a plus) or a related field, plus two to three years experience, is required.
Experience with the following is required:
- UNIX (preferably SUN)
- SQL database (preferably ORACLE)
- networking (Ethernet and Appletalk required, TOPS experience a plus)
Experience networking multiple platforms is required. Familiarity with a Mac environment is required; DOS experience is a plus. Networking UNIX to Mac is strongly preferred.
Experience with geographic information systems a plus.
Responsibilities include installing and maintaining hardware and software; maintaining user accounts; performing backups and recoveries as needed; providing file server assistance to users; utilizing a variety of computers including PCs and Macs; and maintaining the statewide planning database and assuring its quality.
