Unix Platforms for ORACLE

I have a co-worker who is prototyping a database application under ORACLE and is looking to buy a unix box to run the production application. He has $30-$40K to spend and needs a GB or so of disk. Are there any war stories or recommendations by other Oracle/Unix people out there as to which platforms work well with ORACLE? Raw power would be nice, but any other factors need to be looked at as well.
