OEM can't discover my new node...

node is 9.2.0.5 on RH9

The agent is running, just to be sure did an agentctl stop & start several times, bounced the listener as well but the discovery of the norde still fails. Can ping the machine and tnsping the service and connect to the database just fine.
Puzzling, because this is the first time I've had this type of trouble... Did I miss anything obvious?
