Displaying event log to the user while processing

Hi,
I have one time consuming process which updates database tables from the data from excel file.I need to display the status(event log) simultaneously to the user while processing... i tried with win_api_shell.winexec
But i want the program flow should be displayed to the user simultaneously....How to acheive this..? Please guide me..
