I have been trying to use OCI library too, no succes.
I ended up using a VCL component "ODAC Net" from CoreLab http://crlab.com/odac/download.html
It works approx 4/5 times faster than ADO, using Oracle-NET, no ODBC.
Free trial version (can only be used within Borlands IDE).
