list item question

Using Forms 6i.

I cleared out the item but its showing a blank item at runtime for the value I had entered and subsequently removed ( by blanking out the item label and its value). I even DELETED the item, saved the form and recreated it with the same name and the values I had last [Quoted] entered are STILL there (talk about persistence). The only option seems to clean them out at runtime using API but that wierd. [Quoted] What am I missing.
