need to specify multiple local printers through orarrp util on 9iAS and Dev6i forms with web.show_document

We have ported our client-server Oracle Forms app (Developer6 6.0.5) to 9iAS 1.0.2.2.1 (Developer6i 6.0.8) on Windows NT and HPUX 11.00, accessed by MS IE 5.5 on Windows 9x/NT/2000. All this was to be able to use a simple internet browser on the client-side.

The only Oracle forms code we changed in this port was to switch from using our old local-print program to now call "WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT" using the orarrp util on the client-side.

In C/S we were able to specify local ("generically-named) printers to send output to.

In the 9iAS environment all printers must be accessible to the 9iAS server itself and the printer names must be the actual network printer names (no more Windows printer "alias"). We can no longer allow generic names for printers. For example, all workstations have printer icons called "POS", "REPS" and "TRIP" that point to a different physical printers based on the PC's physical location/building.

We have installed Oracle's "orarrp" utility on the clients but this only has two options; 1) send all output to default printer (without prompt) 2) always bring up printer dialog box (but without telling user what file is about to print)

We have users that will be creating several outputs that are sent to multiple local printers, all within a very short time-span. They will easily forget which report they are currently choosing the printer for and a custom report will then be printed on the wrong form (printer).

We have already posted a TAR on Metalink and received their answer stating that they can't handle our requirement on 9iAS.

Is there anyone out there who has worked around this print limitation on 9iAS? If so, how?
