Installed the 32bit dos version to run under NT4 and used the soft link "ln -s" command within the cygwin distribution.
This has made the vi editor look like its is part of the cygwin distribution (i.e no new windows are spawned when I run the editor from a cygwin prompt). thanks!!!!
