System error in export

I'm running oracle 8.0.6 on HPUX10.2
I'm getting the following error while running export.
EXP-00002: error in writing to export file
EXP-00222:
System error message 27
EXP-00002: error in writing to export file
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
The file size hits 2.17G when it fails. I can write big files on this drive, so file size is not a limitation.
ANy ideas would be helpfule.
