Strange thing about Designer 6i: Can't be installed on any Oracle 8.1.7 version due to pl/sql bug in 8.1.7 (DocID 123484.1 in Metalink).

"Workarounds": Install Designer 6i on 8.1.6 (a great advice if you - like me - have just moved a database for a fresh install of designer 6i from 8.1.6 to 8.1.7) or Designer 6i Release 2 on 8.1.7.
