We had a very similar problem on NT and I believe we found that it was a documented bug with 8.1.5.0. I can't actually lay my hands on the TAR we raised with Oracle at the Mo so I can't tell you for sure. I believe that there is a workaround doubling up the % so contains (myword%%....).
