Before trying the excellent advice given by Benjamin, try setting a environment variable called TWO_TASK to your tnsnames alias..

For instance if alias for the instance you want to connect to is myorcl then

EXPORT TWO_TASK=myorcl

and see if it helps...it did on my Linux setup...

To use another instance , change the tnsnames entry used...
