Forms 6i

Hello!
We are developing a procedure with a form with many objects: 4 base-table blocks, 1 non-base-table block, 3 tab-page, many fields (150-200). At the beginning, with version 6.0.5, this form (that was converted from FORMS 3.0) was unusable because a known bug didn't permit it to function properly.
We upgraded to release 6.0.8 and wrote a new form. As long as the form was small (few fields and block) it was all ok. Now the form is almost completed (with the number of block and fields described above) but sometimes it stops working. [Quoted] The first evident behavior is that the source (.fmb) reduces its size (about 20% less).
The second strange behavior is that the form doesn't execute some triggers and doesn't fill some fields.
To resolve this problem we tried a lot of methods without any success. So we tried a debug of the form adding messages or remarks in a trigger. Unexpectedly the form started working again. Removing this messages or remarks (the form was restored to its original condition) the form keeps on working.
We don't know why this strange behavior happens whit no evident reason. Some times with the method described above we can't restore the functionality of the form, so we are compelled to come back to a previous copy of backup of the form.
We are really worried because we are afraid that in the future we won't more be able to recover the form or to add new objects and/or code.

Do you have any suggestion?
Had someone had the same strange behavior?

As specified into the README, available on the CD of Forms & Report 6i or in the Start Menu after the installation of the product, Forms 6i is equivalent to Forms 6.0 with Patch 4

The initial release of 6i includes all the fixes in 6.0 through patch set 4, and most of the fixes in patch sets 5 and 6 (only bugs 892177, 995498, 1086525, and 1120902 are not included).

This mean that in this form Oracle has implemented the Web functionality building a product on the base of 6.0

After this, the form 6.0 and form 6i will be developed separately

At Today form 6.0 as been released with Patch 7 and form 6i (equivalent to 6.0 patch 4) has no patch.
So, who have used 6i (as me), have a really buggy product.

For 2nd August was announced the first patch of 6i......but i've not seen it. Received on Thu Aug 03 2000 - 00:00:00 CEST
