Item Level Triggers

[Quoted] Does anyone know how to validate items (at item level) in enter-query mode ?

eg. The user enters a code from which the internal id is derived. I know this is done automatically in LOV's. But, what if the user types in the code manually - this is my problem.

The key here is that I'm in ENTER-QUERY mode.
