Context Server

We are testing Oracle's Context Server Cartridge to provide text indexing. We have several different tables containing text which is being indexed and some of the primary keys are in fact composite keys.
Within our application, we need to be able to determine, for a given primary key on a given table, if the server(s) have completed the indexing.
I have looked at the structure used by the context server and it appears that this is a solvable, but quite messy problem. It would seem that someone somewhere has solved this problem before.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. Packages, sample code, tools? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
