How to store a file in the database?

Hi,
I am trying to store a file (it would be any format)which will be selected by the user from his/her machine into the database by using Forms 6.0.
I have created a BLOB datatype column in the table and tried to store in the table by using DBMS_LOB package functions like FileOpen,Loadfromfile..
But i think i am missing something here.Could someone help me to solve this?
