PHP (+ Oracle + Apache)

Hello

I am looking for any experience and examples of using PHP with Oracle databases (on Apache web server). I try to write a simple web application, that on one page should have login boxes (for username and password), and then after logining in, it should be possible to use all of the functionality of this application. But I don't know how to make database connection from many scripts on many different pages. Shall make each time new database connections and send user and pass from between scripts as query string ??? I don't think it is too good.

If you maybe know where to find examples or some other help (maybe be some news group ???) please let me know. I will be very gratefull.
