Some background:
We have been using Oracle Web server 4.0.8, reports 3.0 and forms 5.0 to run web reports and web forms. We have been having problems with the web server recently. So we want to start using the Netscape web server so that we can consolidate our apps into a single web server (if possible) and be able to use the latest web technologies (instead of waiting for Oracle to release the feature).

My questions are:

  • How good/bad idea it is to use Netscape Web server to run Oracle reports and forms?
  • After reading posts here, I understand that we can run our current reports and forms using other web servers (as CGI). How efficient are they running as CGIs under Netscape? Does anyone have any positive/negative experience using Oracle forms/reports under netscape web server?
  • I understand that we will lose some of the features that are available in OAS (like using PL/SQL to get html output). But is there anything else that we will lose by moving away from OAS.
  • How is the tech support for Netscape web servers?

I greatly appreciate any help in this. Thanks in advance.
