Re: Backup question

You need to specify a non-rewinding device name, such as "/dev/rmt/0n" or "/dev/nst0" (see the "n" in the names). Otherwise, when you issue the 2nd tar command the tape will rewind and overwrite your first backup (instead of appending to the end of it).
