Variables in SQL*LOADER control file?

I have a value 'x' in my shell script. I need that value inserted into every row of my table. So is it possible to get that value into my control file as a CONSTANT??

I guess I could also preprocess the control file with a quick 'sed' command that would substitute in the correct value??

Other suggestions?
