There is the complete script :
select serial_number, start_date, stop_date
from emp
where stop_date is not null
or start_date not in
(select start_date from emp
where stop_date is not null )
order by serial_number /* or what you want ! */
This statement retrieve:
- any lines having a stop_date
- any line having start_date not retrieved in lines having a stop_date.
I hope that's what you're expecting ....
