Truncation of characters in an expanding field

I have a problem displaying a long field in a report. The problem is the text in the long field doesn't always wrap correctly and truncates characters on the right side of the field. Here's the particulars:

I have a problem displaying a long field in a report. The problem is the text in the long field doesn't always wrap correctly and truncates characters on the right side of the field. Here's the particulars:
Reports Version 3.0
The field can be set to either Horiz/Vert Expand or Variable and does not correct the problem. I've tried using MS Sans Serif 8pt. and Arial 8pt. fonts. The field is fully contained in its enclosing frame, the page boundry, and the printable area of the report.
Oracle tech support has been of little help thus far.
