WebDB, Oracle8i and Intermedia Text

Has anybody here managed to get the Intermedia Text indexing to work with WebDB and Oracle8i?

Everytime I try to create the basic index, it fails with a Not connected to Oracle error. Further investigation (ie trying to manually create the index in SQL*Plus) produced the following:

create index url_index on wwv_things(url) *
