It is described in the help files.
Make a box, just slightly bigger (the size of the bar) than an item. Make the item lenght 0.
Give it a blue background (or wathever)
in the code execution, manipulate the lenght of the item, so it gets bigger during execution.
(looks like progress bar filling)
