where to place the dbms_alert.waitone in forms?

hi anyone,
if i am not wrong, the dbms_alert.waitone or waitany will wait for signal for 1 or more seconds depending on the timeout seconds specified. if I use this function in forms application, where should i place it in order not to obstruct the execution path?
