This is true if you rely on the Basic authentication built into most web servers. There are alternative solutions however, that enable a logoff operation. These solutions are typically based on cookie/database/session keys that are passed with each request to a protected document heirarchy. The tokens can then be timed out, deauthenticated, etc.
