finding status of the form at runtime

I am calling a form in query_only mode and no_query mode
depending on various conditions using call_form.
how do i know from the called form whether this form is running in query_only or no_query.
Though the form is running in query_only, it will allow me to update non base table fields. At that time I want to know whether the form is running in query-only mode.
