Export problem

Can anyone help me?
We are running Oracle7 (7.3.2.3.0) on OS/2. We are going to change
platform (Windows NT) and Oracle version (Oracle8). We need to export a
DB from OS/2 but the export utility does not work. We need to install it
again.
I am not sure but I guess that we have to stop the DB first in order to
be able to reinstall the export utility. The problem is that the DB we
have is on production all the time and it is pretty difficult to stop
it.
Does anyone have any idea of what we could do?
