Forms 5.0 font trashed (help pls)

Nt 4.0 Sp3, Dev 2k 2.0 already installed (was fine).

After installing PO8, the font in Forms 5.0 for displaying certain items (some buttons and error messages) is now a symbol font.

This turns debugging into a new art form, which I can not appreciate.

I don't want to re-install everything, and afraid if I did, I would end up with the same problem.

Any ideas?
