DEVELOPER SERVER exception handling (UNIX)

Hello,
how does DEVELOPER SERVER on Unix handle exceptions generated in case of broken links (client died ...)? Will the affected server process be terminated automatically?
We'd like to change from NT to Unix because exception handling un NT is unacceptable. On NT such exceptions cause message boxes to pop up on the servers console ... we do not have one operator for each server!
