Another architecture would have you launch a text editor with the file name from Forms. The problem is that the data is actually on the server. SAMBA is excellent freeware that runs on Unix which file shares with Windows.

We've run this architecture with PFE (freeware) and HP/Lanman (proprietary SAMBA) from Forms with Unix in the background It's pretty slick, fast and reliable. It's easy from an application perspective but takes a little effort to set up.
