OO4OLE 2.2.1 and VB5 problems

we have several million lines of code using OO4OLE 2.1.03 and VB 5 that work fine. When we try to upgrade to OO4OLE 2.2.1 we get the following message on trying to run/compile even the most basic code:
'Function or interface marked as restricted, or the function uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic'
Any ideas?
